Britain's antitrust regulator said on Thursday it would launch a comprehensive investigation into the country's veterinary industry after it found competition issues in the industry.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) issued a statement saying it has launched an officialvideo3cardpokermarket research. The agency has previously hinted at doing so, pointing to a lack of competition in pricing and access to pet medicines.

CMA CEO Sarah Kader said: "video3cardpokerWe hear that people are struggling to pay their veterinary bills, may overpay for medicines, and don't always know the best treatment options available to them."

The agency said the in-depth investigation will also investigate allegations of reduced choices in concentrated local markets and enterprise groups, as well as concerns about outdated regulatory rules.

CMA's market surveys usually last about 18 months, and if competition issues are found, the agency has the authority to implement remedial measures. This may include selling business or assets, mandating information to customers, or setting caps on prescription prices.
